Self isolated for 6 weeks!
There is no doubt that COVID-19 has had a significant impact on our business. At this time of year we would usually see an increase in both landlord and tenant enquiries; these have both declined significantly, however, for those tenants who need to move into a property now (for those who could become homeless), we are trying to adapt so have put in place strict move-in guidelines for these types of situations, which are working well.
We have also been offering virtual viewings for tenants’ interested in viewings properties (for those properties where we have virtual viewings available) and we’ve put in place strict distancing measures, again for viewings with tenants who have confirmed that they’re in vulnerable situations and need to find somewhere quickly.
How do we move forward?!
The hardest part of all of this is trying to adapt to a completely new way of working. We’ve gone from working in a buzzy office environment to working from home; whist now having to home-school as well as trying to prepare ourselves on what we hope will be a busy period, post COVID-19. Luckily our software and technology platforms allow us to operate seamlessly from home.
We do expect the market to pick up significantly once the social-distancing measures have been lifted, however, to sustain our business until then, we are trying our best to keep in regular contact with both our landlords and tenants. We’re also sharing information with our tenants regarding available financial support, which could help them to keep paying their rent during this time.
We are also offering Facetime or Zoom chats with landlords, tenants and new business enquiries, which is effective and means we are diversifying how we communicate as a business.
It’s important more than ever for us to keep a positive mindset and hope that the worst is over. So for now, we’ll just battle on through the storm and pray for those that have been affected by this pandemic and much love to the brave key wokers, including the NHS staff who have continued working.
